Antiques....whoda thunk it?!

Well the other day me and my husband when to the antique mall, he found this rather silly coin bank in the shape of a war tank...

And decided he wanted to go back for it when he gets paid. (I beat him to it and am going to make him think someone bought it and surprise him on christmas).  After i bought it,it was even more silly outside of the glass case it was in, but i thought, Oh well, he likes it. Well, it being an antique mall, i figured i should research to see if i can find anything on it.

So, what I found out was this "silly coin bank" was made in 1942 during WWII And was called the Save For victory Tank bank. The card on the bottom says... " THIS bank will hold $18.75 in quarters, dimes, nickles, and pennies. When full, open and go to the nearest bank or post office and buy a war bond to aid our country's war effort." Freakin Awesome. After finding that out, it made this item so interesting. It was $24.00 and with the box its selling for $200-$400. Just thought I'd share this neat find.

Pink Rain

This was really fun to make. I drew the silhouette onto a canvas and made the groovy pink "rain" out of crayons, by using a hot glue gun. Pretty kewl huh? I got this idea off of a craft website, so i do not claim this as my own, just my own version.

Come on december....

Its almost December!! One of my all time favorite things to do is put up my Christmas tree. I'm into the cheesy hot choco and Christmas music while we do it! Something about having a Christmas tree lit up makes your house so much more cozy and toastie feeling. <3.This year I decided to make some ornaments of my own. And I must say, they turned out beautifully!  I dragged my husband to the antique mall last weekend and picked up an old hymn book for $4. I cut strips of the pages and stuffed them into clear ornaments i bought at garden ridge...and ta-da, these beauties were born!

So much fun! And now I must really get busy cranking out my homemade Christmas gifts! I always say I'm not going to procrastinate, but here I am, less than a month till Christmas and I have yet to fully finish one thing. Oh well, It'll get done and be beautiful!! Cant wait to post my homemade presents! Some crochet, some art, and some embroidery. Like I said...I better get busy.

Journals Galore!!!

This quote says it all !!! Today was a bad day at work, but Ending up at my grandmas house....lovely.

Today I realized that I have a problem. Step one is admitting it right? Well I'm an addict.....

My addiction....JOURNALS!!!!
Why cant I get enough of them?! I cant tell you how many I have! Prayer journals, weight loss journals, journals for my thoughts, "To-Do" journals, craft journal.....wow. Crazy huh? I love to read and craft and I also like to write. So journals are a way to incorporate all of those into one. how amazing is that?! Journals help me as well, being able to get my feelings out on paper is very therapeutic and comforting. It is also neat to look back a year or more later and read what I was doing or where I was emotionally in my life. To look back and see how much I've grown. Well I have included some of my journals! Just buying them isn't enough, I have to dress them up for the occasion! <3 Make them beautiful. I usually use ribbon, or buttons, but lately I've been trying new things. Anyway,  I have included a picture of a few Ive done! Take a look!

Top Left: I added long strands of ribbon on the top ring only. And let it hang down.
Top Right: I hot glued crayons onto the journal, and used a hair dryer to melt them!
Bottom Left: I used matching ribbon and tied in knots all the way down the spiral!
Bottom Right: I hot glued a paper doily and added a flower decor with button in the middle!

Colorful Crochet Afghans!

After my last blog earlier today I decided to pick up my old crochet project and give it a whirl.

A little fun fact about me.....How did I learn to crochet?....My grandmother Mary taught me. At first it seemed more tedious than it did gratifying, but after I got the hang of it and understood what I was doing. It is actually one of the most relaxing things to do to, other than reading. I <3 yarn. lol. This granny square quilt started out because I was tired of doing little scarfs or crochet appliques, and wanted to show of a bigger project. An afghan. And at the time, my skills were still lacking, so the easiest pattern I could find was a continuous granny square...not much of a challenge, I know. But I think its beautiful ! The colors are my favorite thing about this project. Now, other things came up and somewhere between it all, my skills got better and I put this project down to pursue something a tad bit more difficult......

 ~*~*~*~*OCTAGON AFGHAN*~*~*~*~
I've got a little while to go, but I'm loving every minute of it. Problem is, I'm missing my 1st child, the granny afghan....I may have to do some juggling. <3 The most ironic thing of all, winter will be over when I finish them. I wished they could be done so i can snuggle up with them! But this year I have none and next year ill have two!!!

I'm stuck like glue...

Well I recently have been crafting like crazy! And along my journey to find that perfect craft I ran across a cute idea on Pinterest.com. Now, let. me. tell. you..... Since this most awesome of websites has entered into my life, I seem to be on a binge. Crafting binge! That's a pretty awesome binge to be on I would think. Everything I see I try to find a way to make it better! I'm dreaming crafts. And I seem to be glued (no pun intended) to Pinterest, afraid if I look away ill miss something!!!  If you are a fan of crafts, and have not yet experienced Pinterest.com....I'm astonished. But Ill forgive you, so long as you check it out. its amazing! Its not only for crafts, there is recipes and fashion, kids ideas, all kinds of marvellous  things!!! <3<3<3

Speaking of....

I ran across a cute idea recently,  All it is, is scrap book paper! You cut out hearts and fold in half and arrange in flowers. I put them onto a picture frame but took out the glass so that they are 3D. Cute or what?!  Give it a try!

Crayon Art.

Crayon Art.
1. Hot clue crayons onto a canvas (or in my case a journal as well).
2. Tilt and angle a blow dryer towards the top of the crayons. And simply let it drip down!

Can you beileve its that easy?! I know!

TIPS: * Turn blow dryer on medium, NOT high, the wax blows everywhere
           * I prefer the canvas because the thick material allows it to clump up better.
           * if this is for a cute teacher gift, or for a kids room, it looks better with the     crayon wrapers!
           * Have fun!!!
